ON A PERSONAL NOTE – I touch the parchment, and feel its velvety, caressing surface; I turn it over and
gaze at its brown and gold shades, I am filled with an awareness of its sanctity, as I review in my mind’s
eye the long process it has traversed from its origins as animal leather until its
transformation into parchment used for writing Sifrei Torah and Mezuzot.
On this same material, I prepare a prestigious work of art.
