Characters

ON A PERSONAL NOTE –
During my childhood, I often visited the home of my grandparents who lived in Jerusalem’s Me’ah She’arim neighborhood.
The images of various characters typical to the neighborhood are strongly etched in my memory.
Elderly people dressed in traditional garb, sitting outdoors, Chasidic men in their special dress, Torah Scholars in study and sweet children engaged in play.
Young girls with long braids.
Industrious ‘women of valor’ – their heads covered with tichels, engaged in their daily routines.
Via my art, I have expressed a deep longing for a world that is slowly disappearing.
This collection of portraits were created with love and affection for the variegated, multi-colored figures representing authentic members of our Jewish nation.
