Eretz Yisrael

Our sacred land – so small in size, yet infinite in the depth of its holiness. A chosen piece of earth, which so many behold with awe and wonder, where the eternal story of the people of Israel and their land unfolds.

The modern borders of Israel give it its unique shape.

Recently, I felt a strong inner urge to give visual expression to the holiness of this land, to show that it is unlike any other. From this feeling, a series of works was born, focusing on Eretz Yisrael – its landscapes, essence, and covenant.

To realize this, I studied sources, midrashim, and tribal boundaries – and thus the painting journey began.

Eretz Yisrael – 1

The first work in the series was inspired by the words of Rabbi Levi in Yalkut Shimoni:
“Jerusalem is destined to be like the Land of Israel…”

In this painting, I filled the modern borders of the land with the houses of Jerusalem, symbolizing the city’s spiritual expansion across the entire country. The piece was created using mixed media, with a unique texture in silvery tones that add dignity and sanctity.

Eretz Yisrael – 2
The second work resembles the first, also created in mixed media with a unique texture in silvery tones, enhanced with deep blue shades that convey depth and connection to the heavens.

Eretz Yisrael – 3
This piece was also created in mixed media with a distinctive texture, but without text. Earthy tones of brown, bronze, and gold emphasize the physical and spiritual connection to the holy soil of the land.

Eretz Yisrael – 4
The fourth painting in the series depicts the Seven Species within the borders of Israel.
The map’s shape is adorned with embossed representations of the Seven Species, in soft golden tones on a light background, evoking holiness and elegance.

The Hebrew inscription – “ארץ חיטה ושעורה וגפן ותאנה ורימון, ארץ זית שמן ודבש” – strengthens the connection between the verse and the land’s abundance, as a divine promise.

This painting emphasizes Israel’s link to its natural and spiritual abundance, evoking longing and love for the land. Created in mixed media with a unique textured technique, the verse is rendered in golden, brown, and gold tones, highlighting the physical and spiritual connection to the sacred soil.

Each piece is meant to inspire, foster connection and inner longing, enrich the home with spiritual elegance, and remind us daily of God’s gift — our sacred land.
Those who are fortunate enough to hang such a work in their home open a small window through which the soul of the land can be glimpsed – a subtle bridge between heaven and earth, matter and spirit, past and eternity.

If you like, I can also adapt this for a more casual, blog-friendly style that feels like storytelling rather than a formal gallery description.
